Filmfare 20091209 Scan11 Protima Bedi

Protima Bedi was truly the wild one. Even her daughter Pooja was no less a sex symbol in her prime. In 1974, Protima gained sudden notoriety when she streaked in full public glare on Juhu Beach at the launch of Cine Blitz. Later in an interview , she said:

I shed my clothes, my inhibitions, my conditionings by outdated social norms so that you too can discover yourselves.

I direct this not to the younger generation but to the adults, the parents who have not understood their own sexuality.

When they take shelter behind these conventions, they are living in a world of their own delusions.

Kabir Bedi is simply the greatest export from India. His work on stage, in television and in the movies has been loved and admired by audiences all over the world. He has won numerous film, advertising and popularity awards and is a voting member of both the Screen Actors Guild and the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He married thrice and is a doting father .

Filmfare 20091209 Scan09 Kareena Kapoor

This photograph literally represents the basic dilemma in photography. To be technically perfect so as to appeal to our brains. Or to be artistically experimental so as to appeal to our hearts. This is a technically perfect snap with top notch hair and makeup, colour scheme and toning, lack of ornaments and simplicity. And yet it fails to make Kareena look better or different or interesting.

Filmfare 20091209 Scan08 Randhir Kapoor

This image is so good. The three generations we identify with most (with due apologies to Prithviraj Kapoor) in the background and Randhir Kapoor in the foreground as a sort of purveyor of the legacy. And all in B&W. Very nice thinking. In particular, I liked the portraits of Shashi and Kareena the best.

Filmfare 20091209 Scan07 Anushka Sharma

I love this photo for many reasons: the light play, the background, the dress, the colours and yet most of the credit goes to the pose where the looking downwards is accentuated by the eye shadow. Brilliant. Notice how the caption confirms this intention.

Filmfare 20091209 Scan06 Sonam Kapoor

The reason I do not like this image is because the contrast has been overdone. Over-contrast homogenizes textures. The highlights and shadows have got washed out. In particular the textures of the hair, jacket and top have been lost. Also I didn't quite like the belly button or, for that matter, the necklace either.

Filmfare 20091209 Scan05 Aishwarya Rai

The light play in this photo is so atrocious with shadows on the shoulders and sofa (if possible, seating should be kept out of view), but the hair is so nice.

In fact, getting the hair right is not only difficult, it is impossible simply because it is so subjective an issue. The right way to put it would be to say that I like the hair here.

Filmfare 20091209 Scan04 Vidya Balan

I associate Vidya Balan's look in this scan most with Shobha De. And doesn't she even resemble her here.

What grabbed my attention in this scan in not Kareena Kapoor's face but her neck. The neck and sleeves of the choli are very nice, the necklace however is altogether perfect.
