(click on image for full view)The ideal size of flat panel TV to buy depends on viewing distance. If you want 32 or 42 inch, go for LCD TV. If you want 46 or 50 inch, go for Plasma TV. Dynamic contrast ratio is misleading because it is not measured under standardized conditions. Make sure the resolution is 1920x1080 progressively scanned or 1080p, in short. Among LCD TVs, IPS panels have better color accuracy while PVA panels have better contrast. Also look at frequency, avoid 50 Hz, try to find a panel with a 100 or even 200 Hz refresh rate.
